Robert Dewar Associates is an independently owned agency which specialises in commercial property, land sales, planning and development.
Established in January 1985 the company is based at offices in Chelmsford City and operates throughout Essex.
Services include: valuations for sale and lettings; selling and letting of commercial property; lease renewals; acquisition of freehold and leasehold property, land sales, planning, development advice and consultancy.

Sue Dewar
After working in commercial property for over 10 years Robert, my late husband, started the business on 1st January 1985. I began doing all the secretarial work when letters were posted and phone calls via landlines. How times have changed! Robert was diagnosed with MS in February 1998. We were blessed with 4 children and as time passed and they were growing up I was able to get more involved in the agency side of the business specialising in small offices to start with. Sadly, Robert lost his fight with MS in October 2019 just before the 35th anniversary of the start of his business. I love my job and I am proud and privileged to still be working under Robert’s name, alongside Hugh Crayston who has been with RDA since February 2011 and my son James who started working with Rob, Hugh and I in August 2017.
James Dewar
I have worked in the commercial property sector for over 5 years. As of January 2020 I am now pleased to be a partner in the business taking over from my late father and hoping to service our clients with the same attitude and competency that he legacy has left behind. Working in a commercial property business taught me client services, problem solving, analytical and financial skills. Together with Hugh we specialise in property consultancy dealing with private individuals and advising our clients with the options that can maximise the potential for their business or property interests.
Hugh Crayston Bsc Hons, MNAEA (Comm)
I have worked in the commercial property sector since 1996 starting at the age of 19 a single man. In February 2011, aged 34 now with a wife, a little girl and another on the way I started working alongside Robert and Sue Dewar at Robert Dewar Associates. I firstly was working as a commercial property agent and in latter years as a property consultant. My experience spans from small lettings to large scale infrastructure projects and I advise and work with small businesses and private individuals as well as national and regional property companies and funds. My aim is to demonstrate to the client the options that exists to maximise the potential for their business or property interests while considering their desires and needs.
